Wichita's newest community radio station, KSUN 95.9 FM, has invited the Great Plains Chapter to produce a radio program that will feature discussions about the right of every American to be free from religiously-influenced legislation. YOU are invited to an evening of music by Johnny Q & the Classics, refreshments and an EXCHANGE OF IDEAS about what subjects should be discussed on the new radio program.

2014 Voices United Celebration

An evening of beautiful music provided by a trio from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas marked the beginning of the Great Plains Chapter of AU's "Voices United" fundraising event on September 20, 2014. The evening was a relaxing mix of not only great live music, but also lively conversation with friends old and new who all felt strongly about the need to protect the separation of church and state principle from further erosion. The evening brought in nearly $400 for National AU.

"God Loves Uganda" at Tallgrass Film Festival, sponsored by Great Plains Chapter of AU

God Loves Uganda, "explores the role of the American evangelical movement in Uganda, where American missionaries have been credited with both creating schools and hospitals and promoting dangerous religious bigotry. The film follows evangelical leaders in America and Uganda, along with politicians and missionaries, as they attempt the task of eliminating "sexual sin" and converting Ugandans to fundamentalist Christianity." The film will be shown on the following dates: Friday, October 18th, at the Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum at 12:30pm and on Saturday, October 19th at the Garvey Theater 2 in the Mediterranean Room at Noon. Tickets are $5. We hope members of AU will support and attend the screening of this important film, and spread the word to friends and co-workers!

Public Meeting on former Mueller Elementary School

On September 19, a public meeting will be held regarding the former Mueller Elementary School that was purchased by Christian Faith Centre. Pastor Wade Moore plans to open the school as a charter or private school and appeal to the Kansas legislature in obtaining tax credits and other "school choice" measures for private schools.

Citizen Lobbying in Topeka

We must be more vocal with our legislators if we are to be effective in our efforts to block legislation that seeks to undermine the separation of church and state. The Great Plains Board would like to plan a trip to Topeka and do a little citizen lobbying, with your participation.

December 2010 Meet N Greet

The December Meet N Greet held on December 10th at Adrian's Cafe in Wichita was fantastic! We saw several new faces and picked up a few new members as well! The food was absolutely wonderful and a few of us left with doorprizes, including a copy of Thomas Jefferson's "The Jefferson Bible"! We are looking forward to our next big event, so stay tuned!
